About the project

As my final Project for the boot camp, I had to identify a problem and apply all knowledge gained to find a final solution. I focused on stress from work, which has become more common due to expectations in the workplace and overtime.

Objective

Find an optimal solution that satisfies the user needs and permits them to experience the world of meditation step by step from the beginning. Therefore, they can have a short disconnection from their usual work tasks.

Investigation

Problem

Work stress is caused by a high level of tasks to complete and the excessive demands, which create a lot of tension and pressure for office employees that tend to work extra hours to fulfill assigned tasks.

Research

In order to understand more deeply about the topic, I researched using blueprint as a tool in order to dive into the root of the problem.
After an in-depth investigation, it was more clear about what I was going to do, so I made a survey canvas. It allowed me to better focus the questions that I could use for the surveys and the script to carry out interviews; then, I could have more accurate data and better understand the problem and the needs of my prospective users.

ANALYSIS

With the results obtained, plus the research previously carried out, I performed an affinity diagram to categorize all the information gathered.
Since the focus is work stress, I did an analysis of the competition. There are several options of mobile applications that offer meditation learning, a situation that is becoming more known, more commented, and applied by more people. Recent popularity is due to the fact that devoting a few minutes to our mind and interior, even if it seems strange, helps to calm your interior and control the stress caused by our work or other personal issues.

In order to have a clear business approach, I made a lean ux canvas that helped give me an idea how to benefit the user.
All the steps of the process that have been carried out, allowed me to empathize with the problem and capture the needs of the user, always placing it as the central point for the elaboration of a user persona, which also allowed me to continue with the user journey and the user stories.

Ideation

Using the MoSCow tool, I prioritized aspects that the application had to possess and which ones it did not, in order to have better vision of the approach that would be taken into account as it progressed in the ideation processes.
With the help of the value proposition model, you can evaluate business opportunities, where you add elements and differentiating values of the product.
As a minimum viable product, short meditation sessions are determined, which are guided step by step for initiation and the option of having recommendations for activities outside the city, in order to get out of the routine and share with the community.
After having carried out an analysis of the competition and having several inspirational references, I made a moodboard, where certain attributes and values of the product can be identified.
The user flow allows us to observe the navigational flow that the user must follow and thus be able to perform iterations at the time of reaching the testing part, to achieve a process that is adequate and easy for the user's needs.

Design

I designed the wireframes to identify the design information and to facilitate the process by making it adapt to the user's needs, as well as the design, navigation and interface elements.
I developed a style guide, with certain visual references of the digital product, which includes colors, fonts, components and other UI elements to continue with the product brand strategy.

Prototypes

Results of the hi-fi screens and their prototypes are focused on the user flow previously achieved. In this flow, the selection and performance of a meditation routine is accomplished.
In the second flow, the user receives a notification that reminds them to continue with their meditation routine and also recommends weekend getaways, which allow them to disconnect from the usual routine and enter the world of meditation in the company of the community.

CONCLUSIONS

The challenges encountered in this project began because we were about to finish the boot camp at Ironhack, and a pandemic affected all of us; therefore, the whole learning dynamic changed to online mode, which was difficult at first, given that we had to apply everything we learned in this final and individual project.

However, the difficulties in such a situation, and in my particular experience, made me trust my knowledge, lose the fear of committing an error, follow my intuition, believe in myself and be confident with the decisions that I made. It allowed me to go with the flow of the process, because it was a learning process that I was developing on my own. When the moment came to present it to the class, I shared it with them in front of a screen, and I simply did the best that I could, with great pride for having successfully completed the boot camp.

The issue of stress is a somewhat complex and increasingly common amongst professionals, especially when reference to experiencing stress and not knowing how to manage it, both professionally and personally. Given the many applications that offer a related service, I was able to focus and better understand office workers, understand their needs, and find a product that mainly suits their needs and long working hours, so that they can dissipate a bit of the work routine, learn to connect with their mind and body for a short period of time and develop this routine into a habit.
